What can a "wooden-head" do for the Lord?
Once upon a time, when I was growing up as a tree in England, some men came along and proceeded to cut me down. They took me to a place called a mill where they cut me up some more. Then I was carried to a special shop where a man began to whittle and sand me. He buffed me And polished me. You name it, he did it to me! After what seemed like a long time, the man said, "Young man, you are going to get yourself a ventriloquist." I didn't have any say in the matter. He packed me into a crate and shipped me to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. There I met my new owner, Bevan.
Ever since then, I have been able to serve the Lord. Because Bevan bought me, he is now my owner. I must say whatever he tells me to say, and do whatever he tells me to do. Without him, I am totally lifeless and helpless. But now he can speak through me. In the same way, the Lord Jesus wants to live and work and speak through everyone who will trust Him and yield to Him. Jesus says in John 15:5, "Without Me, you can do nothing. "
Now, if you don't get anything else I say, If God can use a little piece of wood for His honor and glory, what in the world do you think He can do with you? Every Christian has a spiritual gift with which to glorify and serve the Lord. God is looking for boys and girls, men and women, to be totally yielded to Him, so He can work in and through them, just as Bevan works through me.
The Bible says in 1 John 4:4 — "You are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is He that is in you, than he that is in the world." "I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me" (Philippians 4:13).
I need Bevan, and you need the Lord.
