“Wherefore God also hath highly exalted Him, and given Him a name which is above every name: That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth; And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father” (Philippians 2:9-11). |

THE BEST OFLIFELINE |

By Rev. Larry W. GreinerJohn
Piper tells the story of the conversion and execution of Tokichi Ichii, a
man hanged for murder in Tokichi
Ichii wrote: “I stopped. I was stabbed to the heart, as if by a
five-inch nail. What did the verse reveal to me?
Shall I call it the love of the heart of Christ? Shall I call it
His compassion? I do not know
what to call it. I only know
that with an unspeakable grateful heart I believed.” Tokichi
accepted his death sentence as “the fair, impartial judgment of God.”
The Word that brought him to faith also sustained his faith. Near the end,
Miss West directed him to 2 Corinthians 6:8-10 concerning the suffering of
the righteous—“as sorrowing, yet always rejoicing.”
The words moved him deeply and he wrote, “People will say that I
must have a very sorrowful heart because I am daily awaiting the execution
of the death sentence. This is
not the case. I feel neither
sorrow nor distress nor any pain. Locked up in a prison cell six feet by
nine feet, I am infinitely happier than I was in the days of my sinning
when I did not know God. Day and night I am talking with Jesus Christ.
‘As poor, yet making many rich’, certainly does not apply to
the evil life I led before I repented.
But perhaps in the future, someone in the world may hear that the
most desperate villain that ever lived repented of his sins and was saved
by the power of Christ, and so may come to repent also.
Then it may be though I am poor myself, I shall be able to make
many rich.” The
Word sustained him to the end. On the scaffold with great humility and
earnestness he uttered his last words: “My soul, purified, today returns
to the City of “And
he said unto Jesus, Lord, remember me when thou comest into Thy kingdom.
And Jesus said unto him, Verily I say unto thee, today shalt thou
be with Me in |

HOW TO CHANGE A FLAT ATTITUDE |
|
|
“A
wrong attitude is like a flat tire: it needs to be changed before you can
get anywhere.” —Anonymous STEP ONE: PULL OVER AND STOP. You must stop and admit that your attitude is wrong and must be changed. As you do this, try to specifically pinpoint what it is about your attitude that is wrong and why you have this attitude. STEP TWO: JACK IT UP OFF THE GROUND. Lift that attitude to God in prayer. Let Him help you set up some reasonable goals for yourself in changing your attitude. The more you trust and depend on Him to keep you from falling into the same old patterns, the sooner you will see the change. STEP THREE: REMOVE IT AND REPLACE IT WITH A NEW ONE. Replace that wrong attitude with a positive attitude. Positive attitudes come from meditating on the Scriptures and on the goodness of the Lord. (See Philippians 4:8). STEP
FOUR: STEP
FIVE: NOW START THE ENGINE AND TAKE OFF!
Continue on your destination: “Do
not be hearers of the word only, but doers also” (James |

TUNED FOR UNITY |
|
|
If
you have one hundred concert pianos, and you tune the second piano to the
first, and the third piano to the second, the fourth piano to the third,
until you have tuned all one hundred pianos accordingly, you will still
have discord and disharmony. But
if you tuned each piano to the same tuning fork, you would have unity and
harmony. So, too, in the body
of Christ, when we each tune ourselves and our lives to Christ’s we will
have unity. —

The
pharmacist of the town drugstore overheard a young boy talking on a pay
telephone. “Hello, sir, I
was calling to see if you needed a lawn boy.
Oh, you have one. Well,
is he adequate? Oh, he is! Thank
you, I was just checking,” said the young boy. The
pharmacist then said to the boy, “Sorry you didn’t get the job,
son.” “Oh, no, sir,” said the boy. “I’ve got the job. I was just calling to check up on myself.” |
