HIS WAY IS PERFECT"As for God, His way is perfect" (Psalm 18:30a). Not only is God’s way perfect, but He makes our way perfect. "It is God that . . . maketh my way perfect" (vs. 32). Our way must be brought into conformity to His. A "making process" is necessary to perfect His way in our lives. It is this "making process" against which we rebel. A woman was complaining about the many trials and troubles in her life. She said to someone, "I wish I had never been made." "My dear," replied the friend, "you are not yet made. You are only being made and you are quarreling with God’s processes." As we yield ourselves to Him, He will complete the process of making
our way perfect. "For My thoughts are not your thoughts, neither
are your ways My ways, saith the Lord. For as the heavens are higher than
the earth, so are My ways higher than your ways, and My thoughts than your
thoughts""(Isaiah 55:8,9). |

By Wendy Greiner Lefko"Who does he look like?" That is the question I think we’ve heard most since our youngest, Daniel, was born. As with most parents of newborns, everyone wants to know who he looks like. The mother? The father? The siblings? Some long-lost uncle or aunt? Sometimes it seems we get a different answer depending on whom we ask. Some see one person in him, while others see someone else. Or they’ll say his eyes look like one family member and his mouth resembles another. And sometimes it depends on whether he’s smiling or crying! I still can’t say for sure who he looks like, so you may have to ask an unbiased opinion! If someone were to ask this same question of us as believers in Christ, "Who do you look like?" what would the true answer be? Do we look just like our Heavenly Father? Do we possess His characteristics of love, humility, grace, mercy and holiness? Do we look like Christ in our actions, our desires, our habits, our talk, the way we spend our time and energy, the way we treat others? Or do we look more like the world and its self-centered ways? Do we possess the undesirable qualities of seeking self-esteem above our brother’s interests, or adopting the world’s standards of material success, or by putting more effort into physical fitness than spiritual growth, or striving after earthly riches more than treasures in heaven? Who do we look like? I think we all need to ask ourselves this question as believers, because what the world sees in us is what they will perceive Christianity to be and that is an awesome responsibility. We will never be perfect, but we need to be growing and careful about whom we resemble. My greatest desire is that the world could look at me and truly see Christ. "He must increase, but I must decrease" (John 3:30). |

AN EFFECTIVE PRAYER LIFE |
|
|
"If ye abide in Me, and My words abide in you, ye shall ask what ye will, and it shall be done unto you" (John 15:7). The secret of an effective prayer life is , first of all, to abide in Him. Secondly, His words must abide in us. We are to feed on His Word, appropriating it in our lives. We are to be guided and controlled by it. This puts us in the place where God answers prayer. F.B. Meyer said, "The temple of prayer is guarded from the intrusion of the unprepared footstep by many tests. At the foot of the marble steps we are challenged for the watchword. If we do not speak in harmony with God’s glory, our further passage is stayed. The key, engraved with the name of Jesus, will only obey the hand in which His nature is throbbing. We must be in Him if He is to plead in us. His words must prune, direct and control our aspirations. His service must engage our energies. Out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks; and when the mouth is opened in prayer and supplication, the heart speaks." |

EAST IS EAST |
|
|
Two of the most often quoted lines of poetry are Rudyard Kipling’s: East is East, and West is West, Unfortunately, the following two lines are almost completely overlooked, perhaps because they state a truth that people do not want to recognize. Till Earth and Sky stand
presently In these four lines, Kipling masterfully showed that whatever differences separate East and West there is an inevitable time of reckoning ahead for the whole world. Kipling echoes the words of the apostle Paul, "God . . . commands all men everywhere to repent, because He hath appointed a day in which He will judge the world in righteousness by that man whom He hath ordained; concerning which He hath given assurance unto all men, in that He hath raised Him from the dead" (Acts 17:30,31). |

THE BEST OF LIFELINE |
|
By Rev. Larry W. GreinerStuart Briscoe relates one of his experiences in the Armed Forces. "When I was in the marines, the training for commandos included cliff assaults. The theory was that a commando raid should be a surprise, done as quickly and as silently as possible on the area with the lightest defenses. The lightest defense is at the point where attack is least expected. More often than not, it was the cliffs. We would come close to the cliff in our small boats and fire one rocket up through the darkness. Attached to the rocket was a grapnel. Attached to the grapnel was a light rope. When the rocket landed on top of the cliff, the grapnel would lie on the grass. We would then pull it back gently until it caught on something. We hoped it caught on something secure. We had expert climbers. Those guys were like spiders. They would get out of the little boat onto the seaweed-strewn rocks, and scale those cliffs in the dark hanging onto this thin, little rope that was on the end of a grapnel they hoped was hanging onto something secure. A bigger rope trailed behind them. Below, we held onto the rope. When the climber got on the top, he would secure the rope he'd taken up and then give two little tugs on it. The minute the two little tugs came, we jumped out of our boats, cold and wet on the waves and rocks. We would scale the cliffs. It was a hairy experience, except we had utter confidence in the one who'd gone before us. We had utter confidence in the security of the rope he had fastened for us. You could imagine my delight when I discovered that Jesus is called "the one who has gone before," or in the Greek, the "prodromos." The prodromos was a person who headed a patrol in military maneuvers. He was the one who went ahead and made sure the way was open. I rejoice to tell you that many times we'd find ourselves totally secure on those cliffs because of the utter reliability of the skilled climber." Dear friend, let your confidence be in the One who has gone before you. He knows the way, for He is the way. There need not be any fear of death for the believer, for Jesus tasted death for us. He went through it before us and now our soul is anchored secure in Heaven with Him. Hold fast to your hope and fear not! "Which hope we have as an anchor of the soul, both sure and steadfast, and which entereth into that within the veil. Whither the forerunner is for us entered, even Jesus, made an High Priest for ever, after the order of Melchisedec." (Hebrews 6:19,20) |

HIS SON REVEALED IN ME |
|
|
A story is told about a water lily. It was a black bulb in the mud at the bottom of the pond. "What are you?" asked the fish and frogs. "I am a water lily," was the reply. They laughed at the bulb. "Just wait and see," answered the lily. One day the sun shone warmly on the pond, and the lily began to push to the surface of the water. It had turned from black to green. The fish and frogs asked, "What is that and who are you?" "I am a water lily," was the reply. "Is a water lily merely a green ball lying on the surface of the pond?" asked the fish and frogs. "Wait and see," answered the lily. As the bulb opened its heart to the warm rays of the sun, petal after petal unfolded until beauty bloomed on the pond and fragrance filled the air. "Now at last we know what a water lily is!" exclaimed the fish and the frogs. "It is a beautiful flower whose fragrance fills the air." So God is pleased to reveal His Son in our lives that the beauty and fragrance of His presence might be revealed to others. "But when it pleased God . . . to reveal His Son in me, that I might preach Him among the heathen" (Galatians 1:15,16). |

the battle for Iraq is still alive. Praise the Lord! I recently spoke with
his mother who received a letter from Pat stating that he came close to
dying but God had protected him. He mentioned that one of the missiles
ired by the Iraqi army was coming straight at them but it was shot out of
the sky by the coalition |

We can and should worship God in gratitude for what he has done for us, but it reaches a higher level when we worship Him simply for what He is, for the perfections and excellence of His own being.—J. Oswald Sanders |
