"For whatsoever things were written aforetime were written for our learning, that we through patience and comfort of the Scripture might have hope" (Romans 5:4)
In France there once lived a poor, blind girl. One day she received the Gospel of Mark in raised letters and learned to read it with her finger tips. Her fingers became calloused by her continual reading until at last she could not distinguish the letters. One day she cut her skin from the ends of her fingers to make them more sensitive. But to no avail. She wept as she pressed her lips to her beloved Book. "Farewell, farewell sweet Word of my Heavenly Father." To her surprise, she found she could read the letters with her lips! All night she overflowed with joy as she read God's precious treasure.
How does the Word of God taste to you? Is it like "Shredded Wheat," dry but nourishing? Do you only take it like medicine, when you are sick because you know it is good for you? Or is it everything you need--a full course dinner--a delectable smorgasbord? "Thy Words were found and I did eat them and Thy word was unto me the joy and rejoicing of mine heart" (Jeremiah 15:16).
