"Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. Draw nigh to God, and He will draw nigh to you" (James 4:7,8).

You are frustrated! In the circumstances of life you turn this way and that. Friends have failed. Your family does not understand. You are limp from despair. You sulk and murmur, "Why has this happened to me? My situation is hopeless."

Stop! Look! Listen! There is something you can do. Draw near to God. Focus on Him and all that He is to you. You are complete in Him. You are His dependent, so submit to Him and trust Him to work on your behalf.

Resist the devil. Stop listening to his lies: "You’ll never get out of this mess." "You are worthless." Lies, all lies! Resist him in the name of Jesus Christ. Satan’s power is limited. God’s power is limitless, so trust the One who guarantees victory. Only as the believer submits to the Lordship of Jesus Christ is He able to withstand the attacks of the enemy. Faith is a magnet that draws God and man together.
