DAY TWENTY SEVEN

NOT MY WILL

"I delight to do Thy will, 0 my God,- -yea, Thy law is within my heart" (Psalm 40:8).

Alice Knight tells the story of a little girl who tried to catch a wasp. Her maid kept saying, "No! No!" The child began to cry. The mother, hearing her cry, called out, "What is the child crying for? Let her have it." In a few minutes the mother heard an awful scream. "What's the matter?" she shouted. The maid answered, "She got it. She got the wasp."

What you want may not seem like a wasp, but it could sting if you insist on having your way. Your Heavenly Father knows what is best for you. His will contains manifold unseen blessings.

"My will, not Thine, be done," turned paradise into a desert. "Not my will, but Thine be done, "turned the desert into paradise and made Gethse mane the gate of Heaven. (Ressense).

F.B. Meyer told of the time when God asked him for the keys to his life. One by one he gave them to Him — all except one. This key was something in his life which he was not willing to give to God. He found no peace until finally he prayed, "God, I am not willing to give this key to You, but I am willing to be made willing."

The will of God is "good, acceptable and perfect" (Romans 12:1,2). Your will cannot reach such lofty heights.
