DAY EIGHTEEN

LIPS OF JOY

"A man has joy by the answer of his mouth" (Proverbs 15:23); "A word fitly spoken is like apples of gold in pictures of silver" (Proverbs 25:11).

Words—right words. What power there is in the tongue! Power for good or for evil. Just think, every day we have the ability to bless or destroy someone else. Our words can be more potent than those of the most eloquent speaker.

As Christians, we have a speech Coach—the precious Holy Spirit. "Be not anxious how or what you shall speak,- for it shall be given you in that same hour what you shall speak. For it is not you that speak, but the Spirit of your Father who speaketh in you" (Matthew 10: 19,20).

Henry Ward Beecher said, "Speak so as to be only the arrow in the bow which the Almighty draws."

Your God-given words can be like "apples of gold in pictures of silver" to a hurting teenager, a disobedient child, a lonely grandmother, a busy father, a discouraged pastor or pastor's wife.

Be God's courier. You may be the only one to say the right words to a needy one today. Do it. Let God use you. An available person, speaking right words at a timely moment, produces joy!

Let me speak, 0 Lord, I pray
To lift some soul in need today.
