DAY THIRTEEN

PASSING IT ON

"We will not hide them from their children, showing to the generation to come the praises of the Lord and His strength and His wonderful works that He hath done" (Psalm 78:4).

Have you hidden God’s wonderful works from your children, grandchildren? Or can your children say, "Our fathers/mothers have told us" (verse 3)? Jewish rabbis had a strict method of instructing their children. At age five they became sons of the Low and were expected to read the Law. At age fifteen they became disciples of the Talmud and were expected to delve into the deeper points of the Law.

It is imperative that parents teach their children about God’s doings. "And these words, which I command thee this day, shall be in thine heart: and thou shalt teach them diligently unto they children" (Deuteronomy 6:6,7).

Grandparents can find great joy in telling grandchildren of their own experiences with God and answers to prayer. Do not hide these priceless treasures. Teach through your experience. Remind them constantly to obey God. The rewards are out of this world!

Make me a steward of Thy Word, I pray,
To guide some little feet today.
