ANCHORS OF HOPE
DAY FOURTEEN
READ JOB 12:7-13
"The Spirit of God hath made me, and the breath of the Almighty hath given me life" (Job 33:4).
"In His hand is the soul of every living thing, and the breath of all mankind" (Job 12:10).
"He that lives to live forever, never fears dying" (William Penn).
Whitefield said, "We are immortal till our work is done." Someone else wisely said, "live as if you expected to live a hundred years, but might die tomorrow."
God has given you the precious gift of life! "The breath of the Almighty has given me life." Your breath is safely kept in Omnipotent hands — "In God’s hand is the breath of all mankind." You had nothing to do with God breathing His breath into you. You can trust Him to keep giving you breath as long as He wills.
Use your breath to the glory of God. Breathe His name in prayer. Praise Him! Proclaim Him!
Lord, teach me the preciousness of life, whether it be my own, or the unborn, or the aged. Teach me to treasure life, tend it and treat it as your greatest creation, knowing you will one day require an accounting.
"Let everything that hath breath praise the LORD. Praise ye the LORD" (Psalm 150:6).
