THE MANGER

What was the manger like
The night of the Savior's birth?
Did all the animals know their home
Would welcome Messiah to earth?

The wind was calm o'er Bethlehem,
The night was hushed and mild;
And quiet was the stable,
While they waited Heaven's Child.

Welcome, spotless Lamb of God,
Though humble be the stall;
Thy throne shall be my joyful heart,
Thy gifts—my love, my all.
