DID YOU DO THAT
FOR ME?

What
happened to Your hands?
Who hurt You in this way?
Who would do such a thing to You?
What reason did they say?
Don’t they know Who You are?
Don’t they know all You’ve done?
Have they not heard just Who you are?
Don’t they know You’re God’s Son?
Why would they do such things to You?
I’m sorry for the pain.
I wish I could have stopped them
From hurting You this way.
I can’t believe they did that.
Who do they think they are?
Who’d want to hurt the Son of God
And leave such deep, deep scars?
Was it for me and all I’ve done?
I know that I’ve been bad.
The Bible says “For all have sinned”
And that it makes God sad.
It also says God loves the world
And that He gave His Son
To die for me and all mankind
And Jesus, You’re that One.
So
that must mean these scars You bear
Are there because of me;
You let them hurt You in this way
So I could then be free.
You let them hang You on a cross
With all my sin and shame
You died for me, so I might live;
You said that’s why You came.
But I’m so glad you rose again!
You live! And now I see
These scars You bear upon Your hands
Are there because of me.
Oh
Jesus, I’m so sorry
For Your hands, Your feet, Your side.
I know now that it was for me
That You were crucified.
I cannot take the scars away,
But I know why they are there—
You left them to remind me that
You died because You care.
You gave Your life to save me,
You took my sin away;
You let them put You on the cross
To show us You’re the Way.
So now I see these scars remain
And know just why they do;
They tell me that You love me,
And oh, I love You too!
So if I ever wonder
At my Savior's love and touch,
He’ll open up His hands and say,
“I love you, child, this much.”
