The day was hot and still,
The air was so depressing,
The fog which lay so heavy
Showed no signs of regressing.
The grass was almost bending
From the weight of all the mist,
The sun was beating through the trees,
Just like a mighty fist.
The clouds were barely moving,
The wind must be at ease,
And in-between my wheezing gasps
I pled, "Lord, send a breeze!"
My life was dull and still,
My mood was so depressing,
My heart was, oh, so heavy,
And my spirit kept regressing.
My head was always bending
From the weight of all my trials,
The tears were streaming down my face
And hiding all my smiles.
My sins and fears increasing,
I found no lasting peace,
But in-between my sobbing breaths
I cried, "Lord, send a breeze!"
